Why We Farm
Zawadi Farm is located in Toronto. Operating in various backyards within the city of Toronto.
What started off in 2016 as a humble journey into urban farming, with the guidance and a gift of 7,500 Square Feet of growing space on Angas Farm, has now ballooned into close to 1/3 of an acre of growing space in Toronto.
We are extremely fortunate to be able to grow organic produce that we can bring to our neighbors and community alike. As land stewards, we are excited, every season, to grow what we believe is good food and facilitate the growing conversation around accessibility and equity.
Each land we are allocated, each space we are blessed with, we call it our Zawadi, which is Kiswahili, means, Gift.
During our growing season, we subsidize our produce to markets where Food Access is an issue. We have learned over the years, that not everyone in our city is able to afford organic, nutrient-dense produce.
We intend to change that!
